Father’s Day is this Sunday, and since dads can be notoriously hard to shop for, here are some events he might enjoy attending this weekend around RVA!
Ardent Craft Ales is shutting down Leigh St. in Scott’s Addition for their 4th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday 6/16! In addition to all your favorite Ardent beers (and their special Anniversary beer release – a sour black saison with cherries) over 20 guest breweries from RVA, Virginia, and all over the country will be in attendance! They’ll also have local cider, mead, and prosecco on tap with soda, juice and water available for purchase. With 8 different food trucks on site including Go Go Vegan Go, Intergalactic Tacos, Curry in a Hurry, Bikini Panini and King Of Pops, there’s something for everyone! Live music starts at 2 PM and goes all day long with a 5 band lineup! The event is free to enter, rain or shine, beverage tickets are $6 per pour, and doors open at noon!
The annual Ashland Strawberry Faire is being held on Saturday 6/16 from 10-5 on the streets of Randolph-Macon College! This is a free family friendly event celebrating the strawberry harvest. With over 300 local vendors selling food, drinks, art, crafts, plants, textiles, bath and body products, there’s something for everyone to enjoy! There will be live music and performances all day including the Mister and Miss Strawberry Pageant, where two lucky youngsters will be crowned and reign supreme over all the Faire! Be sure to stop by the “BARKing Lot” for all kinds on animal fun including pony rides, a puppy kissing booth, and some great rescue organizations who might just help you find your new best friend! Local businesses, churches and non-profit organizations will also be raising money during this event to support charities and provide scholarships and grants to local groups and individuals who need it most!
If you’re looking to slow down and get out of the city, all weekend long Courthouse Creek Cider in Maidens is hosting a Father’s Day on the Farm celebration! They’ll be serving up a special edition brew in honor of the occaision: Pappy’s Ginger CyBier, one of their crisp ciders blended with ginger beer. You can also visit the tasting room and sample some of their other ciders paired with cheeses, nuts, and fruit. If you’ve got a sweet tooth they’ll also have strawberry bellinis paired with dark chocolate and sea salt caramel! Relax and take the family (the dog can come too!) for a day outside strolling through the beautiful orchards and enjoying all that Courthouse Creek has to offer!
