Halloween has come and gone, and for some, that means the holiday season has officially begun! Here’s a couple events going on this weekend to get you in the spirit – and don’t worry, if you’re feeling like a Grinch about seeing holiday decorations in the store already, be sure to read on for some autumnal activities!
This weekend, the Craftsmen’s Christmas Classic Art and Craft Festival returns to the Richmond Raceway! Get a jump start on your holiday shopping by perusing the wares of hundreds of artists and craftsmen from across the country! This event is filled with one of a kind pottery, jewelry, fine art, photography, sculpture, clothing, toys, home décor, specialty foods, and more! Once you’ve had your fill of shopping on Saturday, head over to Hardywood for one of their biggest events of the year – the Gingerbread Stout and Christmas Pancakes release!Starting at 1 PM, get in line to get your share of this RVA holiday classic. Enjoy food from River City Wood Fired Pizza and La Bete (a food truck putting a Caribbean/Creole twist on classic American favorites). Live music from The Hot Seats and The High and Wides starts at 6:30 and the party goes until 10 PM!
If you’re not quite ready to step into Christmas, head up to “the Center of the Universe” for the 16th Annual Ashland Train Day! This free family friendly event showcases the rich railroad heritage of Ashland with model train exhibits, antique cars, children’s train rides, hands on experiences, a moon bounce, a Bluegrass music stage, and so much more! Satellite parking is located in the Ashland-Junction Shopping Center and St.Ann’s Church on Snead Street and free Trolley pick-up and drop-off is provided.
