Tonight is Opening Night at The Chesterfield County Fair! As summer begins to wind down, come out and enjoy this wonderful tradition and all that the Chesterfield county fair has to offer! Rides, games, music, contests, parades, and of course lots of food! With daily exhibitions and events, the fair is guaranteed to have something for everybody! In the evenings you can enjoy various events like wrestling, live music, and of course, the rodeo! The fair runs until next Saturday September 1st. Monday through Friday from 5pm – 11pm, Saturdays 11 am– 11 pm and Sunday 1 pm – 11 pm. The Chesterfield County fairgrounds are located at 10300 Courthouse Road Chesterfield, VA 23832. Admission prices are as follows: Adults (13-59) – $10 Seniors (60+) – $7 Children (4-12) – $5 Children 3 and under – Free Also on Sunday August 26, all active and retired military get in free with ID!

Tomorrow, Saturday August 25th, you can head in the opposite direction, up to Ashland for Center of the Universe’s 2nd Annual Circle the Wagons BBQ Cook-off and Concert benefiting Circles Ashland. Circles Ashland is a local non-profit offering relationship-based, community-driven initiatives that inspire, inform, and equip individuals, families, and community to resolve poverty and thrive. Come out and support this great cause while enjoying food from Saucy’s BBQ, Jake’s Place, Freekin’ Rican, and more as they compete for the trophy of Best in BBQ! They’ll also have live music from Commonwealth Bluegrass Band and Undercover Bandwagon and a kids corner with games, activities, and face painting all day long! The party goes from 12-7!

Keep the party going at Dogwood Dell with the 11th Annual Latin Jazz and Salsa Festival on Saturday starting at 3:00! This festival is one big dance party and even if you don’t have any salsa experience, everyone is welcome! The festival lineup this year includes nationally know performers including Miami-based Johnny Love; Cuba-born singer Wanda Lopez; Rafael Ortiz and his Tumbao Urbano orchestra and more! The featured performer in this year’s festival will be Van Lester, a Puerto Rico-born salsero who performs the songs of the iconic Hector Lavoe. This year’s festival is dedicated to Veterans of the Armed Forces and First Responders (EMS, Police, fire).
