Usually the James River Parade of Lights is held right around Christmas but was cancelled this year due to inclement weather. As a result, the “Christmas in July” Parade of Lights is taking place on Saturday 7/21! Admission is free and the parade will follow a 14-mile route from the city of Richmond to the Varina-Enon Bridge. Here’s where you can catch the parade and what times the action starts:

  • Ancarrow’s Landing: 6 pm
  • Osborne Park and Boat Landing: 7-7:45 pm
  • Henricus Historical Park: 8-8:30 pm

On Saturday evening the VMFA is transforming into a Parisian Casino for a night of games, drinks, and dancing in the Marble Hall. From 7-11:30 PM you can enjoy casino themed games, raffle prizes, and more! Ticket price includes parking, appetizers, one drink ticket, casino voucher, and admission to the “Napoleon: Power and Splendor” exhibition.

Finally, Gallmeyer Farms is hosting their annual Sweet Corn & Watermelon Festival on Saturday July 21 from 10-5 at The Pumpkin Patch at 4506 Millers Lane in Richmond. Bring a blanket and lawn chairs and enjoy the live music, art from local vendors, and of course Gallmeyer’s famous sweet corn! Bring the kids out for a pony ride, some fun in the bounce house, or take a hayride before cooling off at the kiddie pool station. Free admission and parking but no pets allowed!
