This Saturday 7/14 is the 40th Annual Hanover Tomato Festival! This time-honored RVA tradition is a fundraiser for the Black Creek Volunteer Fire Department and is not to be missed! Come on out to Pole Green Park at 8996 Pole Green Park Lane in Mechanicsville to enjoy delicious tomato dishes (all Hanover grown tomatoes of course), over 150 local vendors, a fun zone for kids, live music and more from 9 AM-4 PM! Just a quick sample of some of the dishes you can expect to see at the festival include fried green tomatoes, Hanover Tomato pie, tomato po-boys, homemade salsa, and more from some of your favorite RVA restaurants like Carytown Burgers and Fries and Strawberry Street Café. The kids fun zone includes rides, crafts, games, petting zoo, and the ever popular “Best Dressed Tomato” contest. This event is free, family and (leashed) pet friendly! They even have a station to bring your pup to cool down and splash around.

After you’ve had your fill of tomatoes, head out to the 6th Annual Smoke and Vine Festival! This event is all about having a good time, whether it’s sampling wines, enjoying premium cigars, or just relaxing and enjoying the riverfront scenery in Henricus Park. Some of the vendors serving up delicious food all day include Varina’s BBQ, Croaker’s Spot, Jamaican Café on Wheels, and Big Herms Kitchen. You can enjoy shopping through local art, crafts, clothes, and accessories while listening (or dancing) to live music and DJs! And don’t worry, if wine isn’t your thing there will also be a beer truck on site! General admission is $30 and gets you 5 wine tastings and a souvenir glass. Make sure you bring a lawn chair! Unless of course you feel like treating yourself with VIP passes for $45… that will get you access to the tents, smoker’s patio, wine bar and a perfect view of the stage! The party goes from 4-10 PM at 251 Henricus Park Rd in Chester!

Enjoy the weekend RVA!
